On Thursday May 07 2026 it was finally time to crown the winners of the Microfiction Contest! As part of the Born Digital Workshop “Imaginaries of the Future” the award ceremony of the contest took place. Dr. Curtis Runstedler who was part of the jury introduced the stories and shared comments from the jury and had the great honor to present the winners with their awards.
The winners are:
Hülya Talu (first place) – When Zeynep Calls
Max Schmid (second place) – stilliform
Seyma Aydogdu (third place) – Human Parameters

We would like to thank the entire jury—Dr. Christine Lehnen (University of Hamburg), Dr. Curtis Runstedler (University of Stuttgart), Prof. Dr. David Thomas Henry Wright (University of Bergen), and Prof. Dr. Joseph Tabbi (University of Bergen)—for their outstanding work and for sharing their expertise.
We are planning to publish the winning microfiction entries as well as the eight entries selected by the jury for the shortlist. Further details will be announced on the Born Digital project page in the near future.
