Sprechstunde

Nach Vereinbarung.

Walter Göbel hat in Marburg studiert und promoviert (über das Werk Sherwood Andersons) und in Stuttgart habilitiert (über das Erzählwerk Edward Bulwer-Lyttons). Er hat in Marburg, Konstanz und Saarbrücken unterrichtet. In Saarbrücken hatte er von 1996-99 eine Professur für Englische Literatur inne.

Walter Göbel arbeitet vor allem auf dem Gebiet der postkolonialen Literatur, es werden im zweijährigen Turnus DFG-geförderte Tagungen zu Fragen der postkolonialen Theorie durchgeführt. Ferner ist Walter Göbel Spezialist für afroamerikanische Literatur und Kultur und für die Geschichte des Romans. Die letzte Tagung der Amerikanistik fand im Juli 2011 zum Thema „Disciplining the Margins” statt
