June 5, 2021

30 June 2021, 11:30am-1:00pm / Geoff Rodoreda - Guest lecture and discussion with Sue Kossew: “On Disgrace, Women, Ideas of Nation: JM Coetzee and his Works.”

Our guest will be Sue Kossew, Emeritus Professor of Literary Studies, Monash University (Melbourne), Australia. Among other things, Prof. Kossew is a specialist on the writer and Nobel laureate JM Coetzee. She will talk about Coetzee’s novel Disgrace (1999) and some of the debates it has given rise to. She will also briefly examine the portrayal of women in Coetzee’s novels (Kossew is the co-editor of the book Reading Coetzee's Women, Palgrave-Macmillan, 2019), and talk a little about Coetzee’s approach to nationalism.
