Internships and Trainee Programs
Ernst Klett Verlag GmBH is one of the largest and most successful educational media companies in Germany, and has offered professional teaching and learning material for teachers and students for over 100 years. The Department of American Literature and Culture is pleased to offer its students the unique opportunity of internships and graduate trainee positions in the Stuttgart English editorial department of Ernst Klett publishers. Due to the high number of inquiries, we ask that interested students apply a year in advance for these positions. Please send the requisite documents (Cover letter, CV, Reason for Interest) to Melissa Schlecht.
German American Center
In cooperation with the German-American Center (Deutsch-Amerikanisches Zentrum / James-F.-Byrnes-Institut e.V.), the Department of American Literature and Culture offers a large number of courses for its students. The DAZ is a non-profit cultural and educational institution, which informs members about the social, cultural, political, and economic events and questions in both countries and also serves as a forum for interaction and discussion. In addition to the diverse course offerings there is also the possibility of completing a several-week-long internship in support of the cultural program.
Political, social and artistic aspiration in connection with poetry, pleasure and the enjoyment of “play” – these are things the Theater tri-bühne stands for. The repertoire includes the whole scope of dramatic literature: tragedy and comedy, the classic and the modern, the dramatization of epics, experimental theater and readings on current hot topics. As a corporate partner of University of Stuttgart’s American Literature and Culture Department, the tri-bühne Theater offers reduced price tickets for our students. Furthermore, the theater regularly offers exciting workshops, key qualifications and more.
Whether there are 1,800 visitors, 180 visitors or just 18 – whether it be about architecture or cartoons -- whether it be a symposium on African literature or an evening discussion with a famous author – the Literaturhaus Stuttgart has developed into a lively meeting place in the city. In cooperation with the Department of American Literature and Culture, our students regularly receive the opportunity to interact with actual authors while attending exciting reading events.
