American Literature and Culture

The Department of American Studies at the University of Stuttgart offers a comprehensive study program in American history, people, culture and literature. Students acquire basic knowledge of American literature and cultural studies, from the country’s colonial beginnings to the present. Within the framework of the English Studies MA program (MA “Anglistik”), students have the choice of focusing on American Studies and specializing in the fields of “interculturality” and “intermediality.” The University of Stuttgart’s American Studies Department is one of the few in Germany with a research focus in Digital Humanities.
