Prof. Dr. Sibylle Baumbach was elected president of the German Shakespeare Society

Prof. Dr. Sibylle Baumbach is the new president of the German Shakespeare Society. She was elected during the spring conference of the society in Weimar last Sunday and succeeds Prof. Dr. Claudia Olk.

Founded in Weimar in 1864, the Deutsche Shakespeare-Gesellschaft is one of the oldest literary societies in Europe. Among its 2,000 members are experts in literary studies and theatre as well as teachers and literature fans. The society promotes the study of William Shakespeare's works in the German-speaking world, working closely with the fields of science, schools and artistic practice.
