Italian Studies journal for Cultural Studies and Contemporary Literature - Rivista d'italianistica e di letteratura contemporanea

The key project of the Stuttgart Chair of Italian Studies is the yearbook HORIZONTE, which was available for the twelfth and, initially, last time in 2010/11. This "Italian Journal for Cultural Studies and Contemporary Literature" was edited by Georg Maag and Franca Janowski. It was published by the renowned Tübingen publishing house, Gunter Narr, who was honoured by the Italian Foreign Ministry for his special commitment to Italian literature and culture in Germany. HORIZONTE sees itself as a bilingual forum for scholars from Italy and the German-speaking countries. At the same time, it is particularly committed to contemporary Italian literature: In the section "Voci di autori", unpublished texts by contemporary Italian authors or first translations are published. This is linked with the desire to draw the attention of the German public to the extraordinarily diverse and exciting literary scene beyond the Alps without having to submit to the constraints of the bestseller hype. A continuation of the journal, which had to be temporarily discontinued due to the cancellation of financial subsidies and an aggravation of the situation in publishing, has existed in independent, digital form since 2016 under the name of HORIZONTE - Neue Serie/ nuova serie.
