Sabine Metzger has written her Ph. D. thesis on Eros and Morbid Artistry, which examines the interdependence of poiesis and existence in the oeuvre of John Hawkes. She has published articles on Gertrude Stein, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Vladimir Nabokov, and Lafcadio Hearn.

Her recent publications include contributions to Vampires and Zombies: Transcultural Migrations and Transnational Interpretations and to Nabokov’s Life and Art. Her research interests are Vladimir Nabokov, transnational literatures, phenomenology (Ludwig Binswanger, Henri Maldiney, Jean-Louis-Chrétien, Edward S. Casey), sound studies, and posthumanism.
